AIA Update

Thank you to all that continue to check in on Tommy and Advocates for Injured Athletes. We have been extremely busy this past year. Tommy is doing great! He is in his third semester at USD and enjoying every minute. He continues to stay actively involved with building Advocates for Injured Athletes. He will be live on the air Superbowl Sunday at 8:40 a.m. Channel 6 . The topic is concussion education and awareness. He will be encouraging folks to attend our concussion seminar Monday February 7th at Santa Fe Christian School in Solana Beach, CA 6p.m to 8p.m . Advocates for Injured Athletes has partnered with Scripps Hospital to create a very informative program. The event is free and open to the public.
The last year has been extremely busy for AIA. We received our tax exempt status in October and we are on our way to building a very successful foundation focused on keeping athletes safe while playing hard. We have held several concussion seminars, helped organizations develop emergency action safety plans and testified both in Sacramento, CA and Washington D.C about the importance of having Certified Athletic Trainers on all athletic fields.
We are now focused on awarding our first ATC grant. The grant application will be loaded to our website soon. In addition we are creating our Athletes Saving Athletes program. We hope to launch the program in August 2011. Athletes Helping Athletes Recover is also in the works....
We have created wallet sized concussion cards for the athlete . You can view the cards on the donate page of the website. In addition we created a Advocates for Injured Athletes Facebook page.
Please keep in touch with us and THANK YOU for all your support. We are working hard to help protect athletes from catastrophic injuries ...just as Tommy was protected by Riki !
